# How to Send Delivery Notifications Using Your Own Email Address

### Introduction

By default, Ship24 sends your delivery notifications from a generic Ship24 address. Verifying your own address means the emails come from your domain instead.

This improves deliverability and brand trust, and helps keep your notifications out of spam folders.

### Why verify your sending address

When notifications are sent from an unverified or generic domain, providers such as Gmail and Outlook are more likely to flag them as spam.

Verifying your address lets you:

* Improve inbox placement for delivery notifications
* Send from your **own branded domain**
* Build trust with email providers
* Reduce the risk of spoofing and phishing against your brand

||| Free email domains such as Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook and Hotmail cannot be verified, because DNS access is required.

### Before you start

You will need:

* An active subscription to the Tracking Solution Pro plan
* Access to the DNS settings for your domain, through your DNS or email provider

|| You can verify up to three sending addresses. The counter next to **Total emails** shows how many you have used.

### How verification works

Ship24 asks you to add DNS records to your domain. These records confirm that Ship24 is authorised to send email on your behalf.

Once the records are detected, the status changes from Unverified to Verified, and the address becomes selectable as your sender.

### Add and verify your address

1. Open **Delivery Notifications** in the sidebar and go to the **General** tab.
2. Find **Sending Domain Settings** and click **Add Email**.

Sending Domain Settings is marked 3 in the General tab above.

3. Enter the address you want to send from, then click **Add email**.

4. Ship24 displays **three CNAME records**. Copy them.
5. Log in to your DNS provider and add the records exactly as shown.

|| DNS changes take time to propagate, usually minutes but sometimes hours.

6. Return to Ship24 and click **Authenticate**. Ship24 checks your DNS and completes verification.
7. When the status shows **Verified**, the address is ready to use.

### What happens after verification

Your verified address becomes selectable in **Sender Email Address** on the General tab. Select it, and your delivery notifications are sent from your own domain.

No further action is needed unless you change your domain or your DNS settings.

| Verifying an address does not switch your emails over on its own. Select it as the Sender Email Address, otherwise notifications keep going out from the Ship24 address.

### Troubleshooting

###### My address is still unverified

* Check that all three CNAME records match exactly, with no typos or missing values
* Wait longer, since DNS propagation is not always immediate
* If you use **Cloudflare**, disable the proxy on the records so they read DNS only

###### I have reached the limit of three addresses

Remove an address you are no longer using before adding another.
