Understanding Shipment Delivery Statuses
Introduction
Ship24 tracks shipments from thousands of couriers worldwide and assigns each shipment a standard delivery status based on the latest tracking event. These statuses help you quickly understand where a package is in its journey, from dispatch to delivery or exception.
In this article we explain what each Ship24 delivery status means and how it helps you stay informed.
In this article
There are eight statuses:
Pending
The tracking number has been added to Ship24, but we have not received any tracking data yet.
This usually means:
- The shipment has not been scanned by the courier yet
- The courier has not shared tracking data yet
Info Received
Ship24 has received the tracking number and basic information, but the package is not yet physically in the courier's hands.
This often happens when:
- A label has been created
- The parcel has not been dropped off or picked up yet
In Transit
The shipment is on its way.
This status includes:
- Movement between courier facilities
- Departure from or arrival at airports
- Customs clearance in progress
Out for Delivery
The parcel is with the last-mile courier and will be delivered soon, usually within the same day.
Delivered
The package has reached its final destination.
This status is used when:
- The delivery was confirmed by the courier
- A delivery scan or signature was captured
Available for Pickup
The parcel was not delivered to the recipient directly and is now available at a collection point, such as a parcel locker or pickup store.
The recipient may need to:
- Show ID
- Enter a code
- Visit the pickup location within a deadline
Failed Attempt
The courier tried to deliver the package but could not complete it.
Reasons may include:
- Recipient unavailable
- Incorrect address
The courier usually retries or redirects the package.
Exception
Something unexpected happened that is affecting delivery.
Possible causes:
- Package lost or damaged
- Clearance issue at customs
- Returned to sender
- Held by courier due to payment or restrictions
How statuses are updated
Statuses are updated automatically every time a new event is received from the courier.
You can also manually refresh a shipment in your dashboard if you are expecting an update.
